Nortex’s 9-1-1 Department provides enhanced 9-1-1 services to a nine-county region, which includes the following counties: Archer, Baylor, Clay, Cottle, Foard, Hardeman, Jack, Montague and Young. The 9-1-1 program provides and maintains equipment to ensure delivery of 9-1-1 calls to the proper answering point. We also provide dispatcher training. We have items that are distributed to the public during 9-1-1 educational events at schools that will teach people how and when to call 9-1-1. Information is available in both English and Spanish.

We provide planning and technical assistance to PSAPs throughout the Region. Training is offered to all PSAP telecommunicators to maintain State mandated certifications. Funds for this come from the $.50 charge on each telephone bill and are distributed by the Commission on State Emergency Communications (CSEC)

We work with the Counties 9-1-1 in the region, local telephone companies, and wireless companies to ensure every 9-1-1 call is received and managed efficiently at the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP).
